From Seattle, Bellevue and points West:

If you are coming East on I-90 go to Exit 17 – the Issaquah Front Street exit - and turn right onto Front Street (headed south). Follow this road south through town and it becomes Issaquah-Hobart Road. Keep going on this road, under Highway 18 (where the road becomes 276th Ave SW) and continue through Hobart.  4.4 miles from the point where you pass under Highway 18 the road (now called Landsburg Rd SE) turns down hill and quite sharply right and comes to the Cedar River. The bridge has parking lots on either side. Turn immediate right after the bridge, go through a Stop sign about half a mile further on.  At this point you will be on Summit Landsburg Rd SE. Keep going, past Tahoma Junior High School, until the road ends 2 miles later in a T-intersection with Kent-Kangley Rd. – SR 516.

If you stayed on Landsburg Rd SE as it rises out of the river valley turning left at the top of the hill, don’t worry, you are heading south.  The road will come to an intersection with Kent Kangley Road (SR – 516) in the little town of Georgetown / Ravensdale.

Once you reach Kent Kangley road in either case turn right.  At a stop light intersection with Maple Valley – Black Diamond Rd (SR-169), turn left onto Maple Valley – Black Diamond Rd. – SR 169 heading south.  Go just over a mile through two further sets of lights and take the next right onto 288th Street.  Go another mile, on 288th, and you will see a housing development, “Pebble Creek”, on your right with a long wooden fence fronting the road.  About halfway along the fence you will see a left turn lane in the road, which is for the Lake Sawyer Lodge driveway.  There is a white wooden sign-post and a mailbox at the entrance and a rock wall on your left just before it.

If you're able-bodied, park your car on SE 288th and walk the 1/4 mile up the drive (you can also drop off passengers close to the lodge and then drive back out to the road to park).  There is very limited parking at the lodge.

These are the directions that Maryanne (who owns the Lodge) strongly recommends.  You can go through Maple Valley or Kent, but it's not as nice a drive.

From the Portland, Tacoma and points South:

Take I-5 N.  Sometime after Tacoma but before Federal Way, merge onto WA-18 East via exit142A (toward Auburn/North Bend). After about eleven miles, take the SE 272nd ST/ WA-516 exit toward Covington and turn right at the end of the exit off-ramp (traveling East on 272nd).  After another 3 miles, turn right on 216th Ave. SE and then left on SE 288th  St. Go another mile, on 288th, and you will see a housing development, “Pebble Creek”, on your right with a long wooden fence fronting the road. About halfway along the fence you will see a left turn lane in the road, which is for our driveway.

Carpooling is strongly recommended.

It's cheaper, more fun and better for the environment. Plus, as we mentioned above, there's EXTREMELY limited parking at Lake Sawyer (in case you skipped straight to this section - we're asking able-bodied people to park on SE 288th and walk the quarter mile to the lodge - don't forget your sensible shoes).  We'll try to keep the driveway clear so it's possible to drop passengers off.  Bringing a flashlight is a good idea, too, as the 1/4 mile driveway to the lodge isn't well lit.  If you're staying at the same hotel with other folks (the two hotels in Renton are right next to each other, too), organize yourselves and leave those extra cars behind.
